GOASEAN’s Original Series, Go Explore Shortlisted for 2017 AIBs Awards

GOASEAN, the world’s first Southeast Asian travel and lifestyle channel, is proud to announce Go Explore, a GOASEAN original series, has been shortlisted for the 2017 AIBs ‘Science, Technology and Nature’ award.

Presented by The Association for International Broadcasting (AIB), the AIBs are the international awards for factual video, audio and interactive productions. 2017 marks the 13th year of the independent, influential and respected awards.

Go Explore stands alongside productions from CBC and Mediacorp –topping productions from CNN, CBS, and Al Jazeera which were longlisted for the award. Winner announcements will take place in London tonight at the AIBs 2017 gala, hosted by Matthew Amroliwala, host of Global on BBC World News.

GOASEAN’s original series, Go Explore uncovers fascinating Malaysian stories,explores remarkable archaeological finds, examines ecosystems, and carefully retells local legends and myths. The series’ 2017 AIBs award shortlisting arrives while new episodes of the series are currently in production with support from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), a government agency for the film industry of Malaysia. Go Explore’s latest host, Hannah Tan will continue to share stories of national interest including the tales of Malaysia’s own Wonder Woman (Cik Siti Wan Kembang), 5000-year-old prehistoric rock art, and the mystery behind Tusan beach’s blue glow.

Through Digital Content Industry (DCI) Fund, it is a strategic platform to produce and incubate filmmakers with new mechanism of funding where they have to be assessed by ideas, scripts, production values and other important elements that are strictly based on international standards and code of conduct”.

In addition to Go Explore, GOASEAN’s extensive collection of original series showcases Southeast Asia’s unparalleled beauty, rich history, diverse cultural traditions, and delectable culinary delights. In 2017, the multiplatform content producer has received international awards for original series including: The Eco Traveller, Go Fast or Go Home, Food Maps, and Unseen Malaysia; bringing the company’s award total to 19 in just 2 years.

New episodes of Go Explore will air in 2018.
