OPPO’s brand new Flagship Store opened its doors in Shanghai with an innovative “humanistic design concept”. The store aims to create a space that’s “fun, friendly and relaxed” for customers to explore, and symbolizes the elevation of the brand to a new level.
Alen, Vice President of OPPO, said: “Retail stores, especially the flagship stores, are the main channel for us to communicate with customers. This Flagship Store expresses our latest ideas on upgrading our retail store experience and elevating our brand. We have chosen our Shanghai Flagship Store as a breakthrough for a better customer experience. ”
Creating a free, friendly and fun space based on a “humanistic design concept”
Design is one of the core talents of OPPO, helping it to create a series of high-quality products beloved by customers. Its new Flagship Store extends its “emphasis on design” from products to retail stores.
Challenging the traditional technology industry focus on sales, this new Flagship Store aims to offer what customers truly need, while being a fun and relaxing space for exploration. This shows the “humanistic design concept” OPPO emphasizes – being people-oriented and experience first.
Except for the product display area, 60% of the space is for customers to explore and mingle with friends. The “big stones” randomly placed in-store are particularly attractive resting areas. Customers can communicate with others; take photos and experience products around them casually, free from restraint and boundaries. Six light-emitting bars provide gentle light from all angles, allowing for clear and natural photos while a mirrored ceiling brings amazing light effect that creates a dreamy yet real space. These seemingly casual designs bring customers into a place where they can enjoy themselves.
To create a “friendly” atmosphere between the brand and customers, the OPPO brand and color intersperse with other designs, avoiding an oppressive feeling. Customized tables and benches provide room for friends to experience products and engage in intimate communication.
OPPO’s new flagship store makes a bold attempt in breaking from an overtly “technological feeling” and offers a place where one can have fun. For example, a giant 8m whale “swims” in the store. This mysterious yet powerful piece of art combines OPPO’s ideas with young people’s imagination.
“Humanistic design concept” is also integrated into the daily operation of the store. Focusing on “experience first”, the staff in the store only provide solutions and services when customers need them, reducing the “purchase pressure”. The store regularly holds workshops about products and photography to better talk to and listen to customer thoughts. It also provides a wide range of peripheral and third-party products for customers, to create a one-stop digital life experience.
