RBMA Sessions will make an exciting return this 16 January 2015 with the RBMA Academy alumni at Nagaba KL
Get up-close and personal with TOKiMONSTA as Red Bull Music Academy prepares to host one of the Academy’s most cutting edge producers to date in the Kuala Lumpur edition of RBMA Sessions 2015. Presented together with Livescape Asia’s After Dark Social Club (ADSC), musicians and music enthusiasts alike will have the rare opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the method behind TOKiMONSTA’s musical madness.
Born and raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) is known for her unconventional take on hip hop, electronic and dance music. Her roots in classical piano and influences in eclectic music have given her a fresh perspective to beat making and is always on top of her game in search of new technological and musical advances. Her skills seamlessly merges vintage characteristics with progressive styles through live instruments, percussion, digital manipulation, and dusty vinyl to create vast textural soundscapes, evident in her multiple releases and experienced throughout the world at festivals such as SXSW, Coachella, and Electric Zoo to name a few. It isn’t any wonder why her talent has been recognized by the best tastemakers in music media from the likes of BBC Radio1 (UK), Pitchfork, and many more.
From being a participant in the prestigious Red Bull Academy 2010 in London, 2014 saw TOKiMONSTA evolve from being an alumnus in RBMA London 2010 to becoming a lecturer at RBMA Tokyo. TOKiMONSTA’s vast knowledge in music production will surely be a treat for aspiring musicians and fans especially with ADSC (After Dark Social Club) serving as the perfect platform for this special occasion. Created with a mission to bring the world’s most innovative and eclectic artists in the scene to Malaysia’s coolest clubs, ADSC impressive resume cites heavyweights such as UK’s Bondax, making this partnership with RBMA a perfect one for TOKiMONSTA’s KL debut. After all, it is ADSC’s aim to bring something new to the table by fulfilling Malaysian’s growing appetite for new experiences and provocative dance music.
RBMA Sessions 2015 Kuala Lumpur will be held at 8pm at Nagaba KL, with an hour long invite-only session and a Q&A segment guided by Cee of Bass Sekolah/Detour Asia.
