Kugiran rock tempatan, The Fatalis, telah kembali ke persada muzik dengan album terbaharu mereka yang bertajuk ‘Quasssar’. Band yang ditubuhkan pada pertengahan Disember 2016 ini membawa nafas baru dalam genre fuzz rock dengan sentuhan pelbagai elemen rock sepanjang zaman.

Barisan ahli kumpulan yang mantap ini terdiri daripada empat orang pemuzik berbakat – Aiman Mufti yang menguasai dram, Shariman Shuhaime yang bertanggungjawab mengawal bass, Faiq Aizad yang memukau dengan permainan gitar solo, dan Adib Azfar yang mengemudi band ini sebagai pemain gitar ritma serta vokalis utama.

Sebelum ini, The Fatalis telah menghasilkan beberapa rilisan termasuk EP bertajuk diri sendiri dan turut menyumbang dalam sebuah album kompilasi. Pada tahun 2019, mereka telah melancarkan album sulung mereka, ‘Ledakan Paradigma’, yang memuatkan lapan buah lagu. Malangnya, rancangan untuk mengadakan jelajah di sekitar Malaysia dan negara-negara jiran terpaksa dibatalkan akibat pandemik Covid-19.

Album terbaharu mereka, ‘Quasssar’, membawa makna yang mendalam di sebalik tajuknya. Nama ini adalah gabungan perkataan Inggeris ‘Quasar’ dan perkataan Melayu ‘Kuasa’. Konsep album ini menjurus kepada keupayaan luar biasa manusia dalam mengawal alam mindanya sendiri untuk terus bertahan – atau dengan kata lain, kekuatan semangat untuk hidup.

Dari segi muzikaliti, album ini mengetengahkan rentak yang lebih groovy berbanding rilisan-rilisan terdahulu. Manakala dari aspek lirik, kebanyakan lagu dalam album ini membawa pendengar ke arah muhasabah diri dan pemikiran positif dalam mengharungi kehidupan yang semakin mencabar. Mesej yang disampaikan amat bertepatan dengan suasana dunia masa kini yang penuh dengan cabaran dan dugaan.

The Fatalis terus membuktikan evolusi mereka dalam dunia muzik tempatan dengan penghasilan album yang bukan sahaja menghiburkan, tetapi turut membawa mesej yang bermakna kepada para pendengar.

After venturing into the digital realm the past 2 years, FRED PERRY SUBCULTURE returns to a physical space on Sunday, 11th December 2022 from 4pm onwards (doors open at 3pm), taking over what once was the world’s largest and finest railway engineering workshops; Sentul Depot. Celebrating the brand’s long-standing relationship with music and street culture, the 2022 edition of FRED PERRY SUBCULTURE will feature a nightlong of live music performances by the finest talents of Malaysia’s music scene. 

Rocking the stage are ska legends, Gerhana Skacinta, indie rockers, The Times and Pesawat, indie pop supergroup Joanna & Co, punk rockers, Trophy Knives, cult-favourites, Hawa and JEMSON, and Fred Perry Malaysia ambassadors, the soulful Dani Komari as well as ‘fuzz rock n roll’ quartet, The Fatalis.

Fred Perry’s Subculture is a series of global annual celebrations of music and street culture organised by U.K. clothing brand Fred Perry. The series made its debut in 2005 in Britain, forged by decades of Fred Perry’s connection to music and street style dating back to the 1950s. Pre-pandemic in 2019, Subculture was held at REXKL with over 2000 fans who turned up (Photo featured in London’s Design Museum at the Fred Perry: A Cultural Icon Exhibition in June 2022). In the year 2020 and 2021, the concerts were held online.

ORANGE: THE VOICE OF SUBCULTURES: The epic sounds of the day will be supported by true drivers of music, sharing sounds of Britain with Orange Amplifiers by Music Bliss. An array of amplifiers will also be on display for music enthusiasts wanting to give it a whirl like some of the greats performing on stage.
