Anak-anak istimewa PDK dan para pelajar Program Kemasyarakatan ini turut diceriakan dengan sumbangan duit raya oleh Tan Sri Hj Mustapha Kamal serta sumbangan Advantage Quest dari Dato’ Dr Sheikh Muszaphar.
The voice of a generation, Simple Plan is returning to Malaysia for their “Taking One for the Team Tour Kuala Lumpur 2016.” This tour comes on the back of their newly released studio album “Taking One for the Team” – the French-Canadian pop punk band’s fifth since their formation in 1999.
Made up of Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Chuck Comeau (drums), David Desrosiers (bass, backing vocals), Sébastien Lefebvre (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and Jeff Stinco (lead guitar), Simple Plan has cranked up the volume and returned with something new up their sleeves.
Although they are known for their pop punk attitude and anthemic rock songs, with this new album, the group wades into new waters. City to a personal, heartfelt ballad like “Perfectly Perfect,” the band has used this new album as a chance to branch out and make music a little outside of their comfort zone.
After 17 years as a group, the five friends have shared so much. Over those years, they have had the time to grow and mature with their music. Simple Plan has continued to stay true to themselves, writing spirited tracks that advocate being yourself no matter what. LELA MANJA mengisahkan Lela dan Manja, dua beradik yang mempunyai seorang ibu tiri yang selalu menyeksa mereka setiap hari dengan memaksa mereka menguruskan pelbagai kerja rumah tanpa henti dan tanpa diberi makan secukupnya. Pada ketika bapa mereka, Sang Naka belayar ke Pasai kerana perintah Sultan, ibu tiri mereka iaitu Dang Suri, melakukan hubungan sulit dengan Megat Sura. Perkara ini diketahui oleh Lela dan Manja.
Dang Suri mengugut Lela dan Manja supaya tidak memberitahu perkara itu kepada bapa mereka. Apabila bapa mereka pulang, kelakuan maksiat Dang Suri dengan Megat Sura terpaksa dihentikan tetapi disebabkan nafsu, mereka cuba sedaya upaya mencari helah untuk bertemu. Namun helah mereka akhirnya diketahui oleh Sang Naka. Untuk menutup perlakuan mereka, Dang Suri dan Megat Sura telah membunuh bapa Sang Naka.
Kedua beradik tersebut menyaksikan pembunuhan bapa mereka lalu melarikan diri ke sebatang sungai dan cuba menaiki perahu. Tetapi Lela tidak sempat menaiki perahu tersebut lalu hanyutlah perahu itu bersama adiknya Manja.
Sultan memerintahkan Megat Sura dan Dang Suri dibunuh. Megat Komeng, anak kepada Megat Sura berdendam dengan Sultan walaupun bersahabat baik dengan Raja Muda (Tengku Dewa). Megat Komeng dan rakannya Panglima Harimau Berantai, berpakat penghulu-penghulu luak yang menyokong mereka untuk menyerang Istana.
Manja yang telah dewasa, mula terpengaruh dan menyangka Megat Komeng adalah di pihak yang benar. Manja bersama kekasihnya, Mawar, menyertai angkatan orang kampung untuk menakluki Istana setelah kemangkatan Sultan. Namun, Raja Muda yang sayangkan rakyatnya, telah melarikan diri ke hutan.
Manja dan Mawar masuk ke hutan, mencari dan memujuk Raja Muda untuk kembali ke istana demi menyelamatkan nyawa rakyat yang dikorbankan oleh Megat Komeng selagi dia tidak berjumpa dengan Raja Muda. Manja bertemu kembali dengan kakaknya Lela yang telah dipelihara oleh Sultan selama ini. Akhirnya Raja Muda bersetuju untuk kembali ke istana dan berlaku pertempuran. Megat Komeng terkorban. Lela dan Manja kembali hidup bersama dan negeri Gangga Negara kembali aman.

Covering major markets throughout Asia Pacific, the four contest clusters include Greater China (China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand), India, and South Korea.
Starting 1 June through 25 July, bands, artists and songwriters are invited to showcase their talents for the chance to snag the coveted title of Project Aloft Star winner in Asia Pacific. This year, participants may submit their original songs – either through YouTube video links or SoundCloud audio links to the website at projectaloftstar.mtvasia.com. Between September to October, shortlisted finalists will perform at the finals in front of a live audience and a panel of judges from MTV, Aloft, and the music entertainment industry. 1. Who are you most looking forward to seeing/ your favorite act at MTV Music Evolution Manila?
Alan – I’m really excited to see One Republic perform. I’ve been listening to their music for a while now.
Hanli – I’m looking forward to seeing Far East Movement perform again. We’ve worked with them before during MTV World Stage Malaysia and they put on a really awesome show. Everyone in the crowd was going crazy.
2. Tell us more about this year’s lines up and your comments about it?
Alan – I think this year’s lineup is awesome. Nadine Lustre and James Reid have everybody’s attention in the Philippines and with their phenomenal success this year, there could not be a better time to have them perform at MTV Music Evolution Manila. Gary V and Gab Valenciano are really talented, Far East Movement puts on an amazing show, Apink is one of the hottest Kpop groups out there, Bebe Rexha is tearing up the charts, and I’m sure One Republic’s performance will be epic. The best part about this show is that there’s a different type of pop music for everyone to enjoy.
Hanli – There’s something for everyone with this year’s lineup. This year’s theme is Can’t Stop Movin’, meaning that everyone’s going to be dancing and partying hard throughout the night! The lineup consists of One Republic, Far East Movement, Apink, Bebe Rexha, James Reid, Nadine Lustre and Gary V featuring Gab Valenciano. From pop rock to K pop to hip hop, every performance will be bring a different vibe to the table.
3. On your wish list, which acts you want to see next year?
Alan – It’s hard to say who would be on that list. There are so many amazing new artists out there making new music. I’d be interested in seeing a MTV Music Evolution show aimed at rock fans with bands like Imagine Dragons or Kings of Leon performing. I think that would be a really cool direction to take if the event is held next year.
Hanli – I would love to see Little Mix! They’re one of my favourite girl groups. I would also love to have Alicia Keys.
4. Tell us more about MTV Music Evolution Manila, what are you most anticipating for this year?
Alan – I’m most excited to the crazy audience that shows up for this concert. With over 22,000 in attendance last year and an amazing lineup this year, I can only imagine that the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds will popping off.
Hanli – I’m anticipating the fans! Music fans here in the Philippines go hard. Their online chatter caused our hashtag #MTVMusicEvo to trend during the concert last year. Throughout the whole night the crowd’s energy was strong and consistent. We had over 22,000 attendees last year and we hope to dance up a storm with more fans this year!
5. So we heard that the MTV Show Season 5 has just premiered; tell us how excited you are about that and what can fans expect?
Alan – I’m honestly very excited about the new season. We’re changing some things about the format and feel of the show. I think season five is a bit more down-to-earth and intimate than past seasons. It’s a bit like sitting down with a couple of your friends and just having a chat about what’s going on out there in world of music, news, and pop culture. It’s been a lot of fun filming the first few episodes of this season.
Hanli – This season of The MTV Show is a lot more fast paced than previous ones. I’m always excited to start a new season of the show. It allows our team to be a bit more daring about what we produce. It allows us VJs to be more of ourselves on television and it gives us an opportunity to add more personality to our show. Expect more laughs, more music, more artists and a wider coverage of what is trending in the world.

Industri hiburan negara suatu masa dahulu meriah dengan kehadiran bermacam kumpulan muzik. Kehadiran pelbagai jenis kumpulan dengan beraneka nuansa muzik yang dimainkan serba sedikit mencorakkan industri hiburan tempatan dan merancakkan penjualan album, video konsert dan bermacam jenis produk muzik yang berkaitan.
Akan tetapi melewati ke era millennium, satu demi satu kumpulan muzik hilang dari persada muzik tempatan. Manakala kewujudan kumpulan baru yang membawakan genre muzik terkini pula tidak banyak yang berdaya tahan dan mampu menongkah arus cabaran dalam industri hiburan Malaysia.
Bertitik tolak daripada ini, JMP Productions dan Tio Studio dengan kerjasama Anggerik Event berbesar hati untuk menganjurkan “War Of Bands – Joe Wings mencari protégé” yang betujuan untuk cuba mengulangi kemeriahan industri hiburan tempatan yang pernah melalui zaman kegemilangannya suatu ketika dahulu.
Pertandingan mengikut konsep ‘Battle Of The Bands’ yang pernah popular satu ketika dahulu. Cuma bezanya kali ini peserta yang layak berpeluang merakamkan karya mereka untuk dimuatkan ke dalam album kompilasi serta mendapat tunjuk ajar dan sokongan dari susuk yang tidak perlu lagi diperkenalkan lagi dalam arena muzik tempatan – Joe Wings.
Selama lebih tiga dasawarsa ‘mengperhambakan’ diri sebagai anak seni, Joe Wings adalah satu figura yang tidak boleh dinafikan impak dan pengaruhnya dalam industri hiburan tempatan amnya dan untuk muzik rock khususnya. Dengan pengalaman selaku pemain gitar utama kumpulan Wings, pencipta lagu, penulis lirik, penerbit album, pengarah persembahan, pemain gitar undangan dan pernah bergelar pelakon sudah lebih daripada mencukupi untuk melayakkan Joe Wings mencari pelapis berkumpulan agar segala ilmu dan pengalaman beliau sepanjang bergelar artis dan pemuzik dapat diperturunkan dan diwarisi kepada generasi baru.
‘War Of Bands – Joe Wings mencari protégé’ akan dijalankan secara saringan di tiga lokasi yang ditetapkan iaitu:
Saringan pertama – Johor Bahru, 31 Ogos 2016
Saringan kedua – MAEPS Serdang, 16 September 2016
Saringan ketiga – Ipoh, 1 Oktober 2016
Yuran penyertaan untuk setiap kumpulan adalah sebanyak RM 300.00 dan setiap penyertaan akan mendapat 5 helai t-shirt secara percuma. Had umur penyertaan daripada 15 tahun hingga 35 tahun sahaja. Bagi setiap penyertaan, pihak penganjur akan mendermakan sebanyak RM 30.00 kepada tabung kebajikan Yazit Search. Format pertandingan peringkat saringan memerlukan setiap kumpulan menyampaikan 3 buah lagu samada tempatan, antarabangsa ataupun lagu ciptaan sendiri.
Pertandingan akhir akan diadakan di MAEPS Serdang pada 16 Oktober 2016. Sebanyak 4 buah kumpulan akan dipilih untuk ke pertandingan akhir dan juri pada peringkat akhir nanti ialah saudara Hillary Ang, Yazit Search dan Joe Wings. Pada peringkat akhir, setiap kumpulan diwajibkan membawakan 1 lagu ‘cover’ dari kumpulan Wings yang diolah kembali mengikut citarasa sendiri dan 1 lagu ciptaan sendiri. Juara akan menerima hadiah wang tunai RM 5,000.00 dan sebanyak 12 kumpulan termasuk yang berjaya ke pusingan terakhir akan dipilih untuk merakamkan lagu dalam satu album kompilasi yang akan diselia dan diterbitkan oleh Joe Wings sendiri.
Satu kelainan pada pertandingan ini berbanding pertandingan muzik yang lain ialah selain menumpukan kepada kumpulan berbanding penyanyi solo, setiap kumpulan yang bertanding diberi peluang beraksi di atas pentas bertaraf konsert yang dilengkapi dengan sistem bunyi bertaraf antarabangsa yang kebiasaannya hanya digunakan dalam konsert-konsert berskala besar. Ini bertujuan untuk memberikan satu suasana dan dimensi baru kepada setiap kumpulan yang bertanding untuk merasai sendiri pengalaman bermain di atas pentas bersaiz besar yang dilengkapi sistem bunyi bertaraf antarabangsa. Seterusnya dapat memotivasikan setiap kumpulan yang bertanding untuk memberikan persembahan yang terbaik setaraf dengan kemudahan yang diberikan. Untuk kumpulan yang terpilih merakamkan lagu dalam album kompilasi pula, Joe Wings sendiri akan memberi tunjuk ajar serta bimbingan sepanjang proses rakaman.
Diharapkan dengan penganjuran ‘War Of Bands – Joe Wings mencari protégé’ ini dapat menyemarakkan kembali arena muzik tempatan dan seterusnya dapat melahirkan pelapis-pelapis yang bermutu dalam menghasilkan karya-karya baru dan malar segar. Ribuan terima kasih diucapkan kepada Teh Tarik Place Setapak Central yang sudi menaja tempat dan makanan untuk sidang media ini. Semoga penganjuran acara ini juga dapat membuka mata penaja-penaja yang berpotensi di luar sana untuk melabur dalam melahirkan pelapis-pelapis hiburan tanahair.
