FANS CAN SHOW OFF THEIR LIGHTER SIDES THROUGH CALPIS ‘FIBRE-UP CHALLENGE’

With the launch of Calpis Fibre with less sugar range into the Malaysian market, Calpis, one of Malaysia’s leading cultured milk brands continues to multiply the goodness among Malaysians. This time around, they have concocted an unconventional, fun, and exciting nationwide contest called ‘Fibre-Up Challenge” which was launched on 7th December. The contest is set to challenge fans from 7th December 2017 to 2nd January 2018.

The concept behind the contest is simple and unique. Fans are challenged to share the goodness of Calpis Fibre with less sugar and show how ‘light’ they feel when they consume Calpis Fibre through stimulating or creative physical stunts captured in a photo. This gives fans a chance to express their creativity as well as share the goodness of Calpis Fibre range which promotes gut health with a dose of deliciousness.

Thereafter, participants can amplify and multiply the goodness within on their social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram. All contestants need to do is simply hashtag #calpis #calpisfibre #fibreupchallenge and upload a photo of their ‘light’ moments while holding a bottle of Calpis Fibre in the photo submission and they stand a chance to win prizes! There will be twenty lucky winners in total with each standing a chance to win RM500 in cash as well as a carton of Calpis Fibre Original 350ml or Calpis Fibre Orange 350ml.

The launch of the ‘Fibre-Up Challenge’ will start with popular influencers such as Sharifah Sakinah, Nana Mahazan, Nana Al Haleq, Hafidz Roshdi, Ahmad Ezzrin Loy, Cik Manggis, Alvin Chong along with Calpis ambassadors, Harith Iskander, Yuna, Zizan Razak and Siti Nordiana sharing their own ‘light’ moments by being the first to participate in the contest. Through their submissions, the celebrities will get to talk about how Calpis Fibre makes them feel ‘lighter’ as they are able to maintain good intestinal health and have stronger and healthier digestion.

“Aside from tasting great, I believe that this cultured milk drink is also really good for me because it clears my digestive system and when that happens, I feel ‘lighter’. Then I can do a lot more things and most of all, I don’t feel sluggish because of the ‘lightness’ in my gut!”, said Harith Iskander, Laugh Factory Funniest Person in The World 2016.

“As part of our commitment of promoting a healthier gut and ease of digestive process, Calpis continuously looks for different and unconventional ways to create awareness and engage with fans. We have incorporated a fun element to the ‘Fibre-Up Challenge’ by collaborating with Calpis ambassadors which will have a lasting impact and help fellow Malaysians understand the importance of healthy gut and leading healthier lives,” said Santharuban T. Sundaram, Vice President of Marketing at Etika Sdn Bhd.

Santharuban added “We hope that this contest will ‘lighten-up’ our fans as well as inspire them to lead to healthier lives. In return, we want to encourage our fans to share and multiply the goodness around to friends and family”.

Gillette Venus mengumumkan duta jenama pertamanya, yakni Farah Ann, pemenang pingat emas gimnastik artistik Sukan SEA

An eclectic mix of Asian artistes at Laneway Singapore 2018

Asia is hot these days and we don’t mean the weather. For Laneway Festival Singapore 2018, we have added a varied line-up of Asian artistes – eight groups from four countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore) to be exact.

From break-out bands to established entertainers, Laneway Singapore 2018 has them all. Foraging is our speciality and every year, we suss out the artistes to watch, so you don’t have to. We’ve been doing this for eight years (yes, already!) and we hope we get better each time.

Producing music from his early teens, 21-year-old ALEXTBH has since made his mark in Malaysia’s electronic music scene with his brand of atmospheric music that merges dance electronic and R&B. In August 2016, the engineering student by day, producer by night released alive, a four-track experimental, electronic-meets-R&B EP citing artistes like Flume, James Blake and Jamie xx as major influences. It racked up more than 20,000 plays on Spotify in less than two months. The single, “alive”, subsequently made its way onto Hitz.fm’s Met10 chart.

AMATEUR TAKES CONTROL wears its heart on its sleeve. Its affirmation of independent DIY ethics, calling for the everyman to steer his own life, shouts out from its powerful, emotional music. The five-piece instrumental rock outfit launched its debut album, You, Me and the Things Unsaid, in 2008. The release was viewed as a landmark record, considering the short history of post-rock in Singapore. Fresh from a three-year hiatus, ATC will let loose ATC EP2 on 26 December 2017. Noisier, darker and more aggressive: That’s the ATC promise.

HEALS is an alternative rock / shoegaze / nu gaze band known for textured layers of distorted guitar riffs, unique sounds, effects and streams of soft yet melodious vocal. Its first single, “Void”, created a wave in Indonesia upon its digital upload in 2014. A year later, HEALS landed a record deal which led to the release of B-sides in cassette format at Record Store Day 2016. Another milestone took place on 9 April 2017: HEALS launched its debut full album, Spectrum, a capsule of 10 tracks of imaginative perspectives on human life.

MAS1A of complex hip-hop flows switches effortlessly to dancehall chanting, as showcased in her international underground hit, “Warriors Tongue”. She unabashedly celebrates her cultural mashup, and derives joy through expression in all forms, be it music, visual art or fashion design. Masia has also rocked audiences around the globe with her reputation as a soul rebel. The release of Bootleg Culture, produced by Che Pope (G.O.O.D. Music, Kanye West), put Masia on a world tour in 2013 visiting Jamaica, the US, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore (homeground!).

Capturing the quintessential spectorgaze-esque sounds of classic girl-group pop highlighting bittersweet tales of love and loss is Singapore’s OBEDIENT WIVES CLUB. The fuzz pop quintet’s Cinematica, a five-track EP and its third, was released 14 July 2017. Among the production credits: legendary Singaporean musician Patrick Chng (Oddfellows, TypeWriter), American producer Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair), American mastering engineer Hans DeKline (Pixies, Snoop Dogg), and its own guitarist, Keith Tan. Before Cinematica, there were two EPs: Obedient Wives Club (2011) – rated one of SEA INDIE’s top 10 Best Indie-pop Releases in 2010/11 – and Murder Kill Baby (2013).

THELIONCITYBOY is a son of Singapore. The rapper, producer and songwriter is most famous locally for radio favourite “YAYA ft. Benjamin Kheng”, receiving over a million online streams to date. After three EPs – Let’s Talk About Kevin Lester (2010), Everything You Love, You Hate (2013) and Put Your City On (2014) – he dropped his first full-length album, Paradise, on 26 August 2016. THELIONCITYBOY is ready for an explosive set at Laneway Festival Singapore.

Life has not been the same for THE RANSOM COLLECTIVE since it emerged the winner in Wanderband, a competition in the Philippines among up-and-coming acts three years ago. The six-piece indie folk band soon found itself playing throughout Manila, introducing its distinctive sound that merges unique percussive patterns, acoustic guitar-driven leads, melodic violin phases and full vocal. The Ransom Collective’s self-titled EP was released in November 2014, followed by full-length album Traces in May 2017. Both received high praise from music critics and peers.

Singaporean TIM DE COTTA makes no bones about being a purist. The R&B and hip-hop vocalist, bassist, songwriter and producer is moulded by Maxwell, John Legend, Common and Mos Def while his bass-playing is styled along the lines of Derrick Hodge and Stuart Zender. De Cotta is reputed to push the boundaries, in both writing and production, and this trait is evidenced in his collaborations with TAJ, L.A.B, neoDominatrix and Kilo Habit. We can’t wait to see him in 2018.

IPC Shopping Centre Forgoes Lavish Decorations to Raise RM100,000 for 100 Families

This festive season, IPC Shopping Centre is taking their entire Christmas festive decorations down a notch to channel their focus into doing so much more for 100 families in need through a crowdfunding campaign.  IPC is calling members of the public to join them in achieving a target of RM100,000 worth of groceries, school supplies and toys collectively to brighten the lives of these Malaysians.

To further stamp their year-end commitment, IPC Shopping Centre has taken the first step by contributing a total of RM50,000 to achieve half of the campaign’s target.

The shopping centre has adopted ‘Christmas in a Box’ as their festive theme this year, which translates to giving a slice of the festivities to those in need, all within one box. To realise this effort, IPC Shopping Centre has put together four types of ‘gift boxes’ which will be given to 100 underprivileged local families.  To identify these families, IPC has worked hand-in-hand with HOPE Worldwide Malaysia, a globally accredited non-religious NGO that has been helping disadvantaged local communities for the past 21 years. The four gift boxes include:

  1. Happiness Box – IKEA Toys and Arts & Craft Supplies (RM25)
  2. Home Box – Groceries (RM48)
  3. Back-to-School Box – School Supplies (RM120)
  4. Care Box – Groceries + School Supplies (RM168)

“IPC Shopping Centre is all about bringing happiness, both to our own co-workers, staff and also externally to our surrounding communities. Every day, we see people of different backgrounds and purpose walk in our centre and all we want to do is ensure that they feel a sense of fulfilment or contentment each time they pay us a visit. The goal of this campaign is to further extend IPC’s commitment of bringing that feeling to people and families beyond our walls”, said Karyn Lim, Centre Manager IPC Shopping Centre

Lim added “The year-end is always a special time for us, and this year we want to make it even more special by calling on all our friends, partners and communities to join us in making this season of giving an unforgettable one for the 100 Malaysian families in need”.

IKEA Damansara, was the first commercial partner to collaborate with the campaign by developing the ‘Happiness Box’. Synonymous with festivities, the ‘Happiness Box’ was designed centred around kids and what they would normally receive during the morning of Christmas. This gift box is completed with most of the things kids love, like IKEA soft toys as well as arts & crafts supplies.

IPC Shopping Centre also identified several other partners for this campaign. Partners include Absolute Thai with a cash donation of RM5,000 towards the campaign, Spotlight who are contributing household items and Popular who are contributing stationeries. HOPE Worldwide Malaysia has also been identified as the NGO partner who will be leading the logistic arrangements and Bonsey Jaden, to communicate the message out to the public.

“HOPE worldwide Malaysia is honoured and grateful to be selected by IPC Shopping Centre as the beneficial NGO for their ‘Christmas in a Box’ Campaign. Through the tagline of the Campaign ‘Dimming down the Lights to Brighten Lives’, IPC Shopping Centre inspires us to be more selfless and empathetic by putting ourselves in the shoes of the less fortunate, it brings a deeper meaning to this festive celebration,” shared Darick Wong, Country Director of HOPE Worldwide Malaysia.

IPC Shopping Centre’s “Christmas in a Box” campaign will be running from 30th November until the 27th of December 2017. To contribute, simply head down to HOPE Worldwide Malaysia’s booth in the concourse, located on Level G, of IPC Shopping Centre. For further information visit www.ipc.com.my
