The Ricoh Theta S, the latest model from the Ricoh Theta series of spherical cameras has finally arrived in Malaysia. Launched in Harvey Norman Nu Sentral, this camera captures 360° highresolution photos and videos with a single click.

The new model adds a live preview function and even greater compatibility with social media platforms. Present at the launch was international supermodel and actress Amber Chia, who was excited with the possibilities offered by the Ricoh Theta S. “It’s definitely a fun and immersive experience, totally unique compared to conventional photos and videos. This brings selfies and wefies to a whole new level as it makes you feel like you’re actually there,” she said.

Boasting a fully updated design and user interface, the new Ricoh Theta S records fully 360° spherical video in 30fps Full HD at a maximum of 25 minutes. Dual 12-megapixel 1/2.3″ CMOS sensors captures an effective output of 14-megapixel high quality images, and the newly developed f/2 lenses allows more light through Ricoh’s proprietary ultra-small twinlens folded-optical system.

The Ricoh Theta S works in a variety of lighting conditions with a sensitivity range of ISO 100-1600, with possible shutter speeds between 1/6400sec to 1 minute for stills and 1/8000sec for video modes. While it retains the same lightweight portability of the Ricoh Theta m15, usability has been improved with practical sure-grip black rubber coating, and an expanded 8GB of internal memory. In addition to its imaging capabilities, all spherical photos and videos can be uploaded to the and shared to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr or posted to Google Maps, Google+, and YouTube.

The new Ricoh Theta S app, now available on both the App Store and Google Play, can be used to manually adjust the camera’s settings from your smartphone or tablet, as well as instantly view recorded spherical photos and video. Live streaming is also possible when the device is connected via USB or HDMI.

It is also compatible with the new Google Street View app, which allows image capture and instant sharing to Google Maps for people around the world to see. The Ricoh Theta S will go on sale for RM1779 at all Harvey Norman stores in Malaysia.
