In celebration of Oh!K’s 5^th birthday, Oh!K and Astro have invited I Live Alone host, Sung Hoon to Malaysia on Saturday, 19 October, at 1 Utama Shopping Centre from 5pm onwards for a public fan meet-and-greet. The event will offer a string of K-experiences including group photos and hi-touch opportunities with the celebrity heartthrob.

Sung Hoon first captured the hearts of viewers with his debut role in romance drama New Tales of Gisaeng. His performance earned him a Best New Actor award in 2011, and since then he has won numerous accolades including Best Entertainer Award at the 2^nd Asia Artist Awards, and the Korean Model Star award at the 13^th Asia Model Awards. Currently Sung Hoon holds the lead role in Korea’s top-rated show, I Live Alone which airs on Oh!K (Astro Channel 394).

Sung Hoon will also appear in a live Facebook session on the Oh!K Facebook page on the same day at approximately 1pm, where he will share about his experience in Malaysia as well as answer some of his fans’ top questions.

K-dance workshops and competitions

Also,  as part of the Oh!K 5th anniversary roadshow festivities, K-fans can look forward to high-energy K-dance performances and free workshops with KTNK Dance Academy at 1 Utama Shopping Centre from 17 to 20 October. During these K-dance workshops, fans can have a full dance-workout while learning some of K-pop’s most electrifying moves.

Dance crews who already have the moves down to a pat and are hoping to be Malaysia’s next K-Pop star can join K-Pop Dance Stars Competition – an epic dance competition hosted by KTNK Dance Academy, happening on 19 October from 11am-4pm. At the competition, all the best dancers in Malaysia will have their chance to shine and stand a chance to win a total of RM5,000 in cash prizes.

Oh!K and Astro have also partnered to launch a ‘Pop & Watch’ branded block which will air some of the most popular shows from Oh!K’s programming slate. Jika sebelum ini, pihak produksi Astro dan barisan juri profesional telah dipertanggungjawabkan untuk menentukan kemasukkan para peserta dalam program Kilauan Emas (KE). Namun begitu, untuk kali ini program yang bernaung di bawah payung Astro Prima ini kembali tapi dengan pendekatan yang berbeza dan lebih unik. Kilauan Emas akan kembali menemui peminatnya dengan edisi istimewa, ‘Kilauan Emas Otai’ yang akan bersiaran pada setiap hari Rabu mulai 9 Mac ini pada jam 9.00 malam di Astro Prima (saluran 105) dan Maya HD (saluran 135).

Kilauan Emas Otai akan menyaksikan 12 bintang kelahiran program Kilauan Emas berentap selama tujuh minggu dalam usaha merebut takhta otai terhebat di kalangan yang terhebat. Para peserta adalah terdiri daripada lima orang Juara Kilauan Emas musim pertama hingga kelima dan tujuh lagi kekosongan akan diisi oleh bintang Kilauan Emas yang telah berjaya melayakkan diri sehingga ke peringkat separuh akhir pada musim-musim yang sebelumnya. • Studio Kilauan Emas Otai mulai 25 Januari sehingga 14 Februari pada jam 8.55 malam yang bakal bersiaran selama tiga minit. Ia merupakan program kapsul yang akan memaparkan persembahan akustik calon peserta Kilauan Emas Otai.

Juara Kilauan Emas Otai akan membawa pulang wang tunai sebanyak RM 150,000.00 beserta trofi. CARLY RAE JEPSEN Makes Her Debut In Malaysia AT MTV WORLD STAGE MALAYSIA 2015 |   MTV revealed today multi-platinum, Grammy®-nominated singer-songwriter, Carly Rae Jepsen will make her debut in Malaysia at MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015 at Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon on Saturday, 12 September 2015. MTV broke the news via an Instagram post to fans saying, “@carlyraejepsen to perform 1st time in [Malaysia flag emoji] at #worldstagemy! She really really really really really really likes you!”

Jepsen will join MTV’s announced line-up of performers for MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015 – Korea’s favorite K-pop idol female group, Apink and hottest Japanese band, SEKAI NO OWARI. Recorded live for global telecast, the one-night only outdoor event is one of the biggest Southeast Asia music nights of the year, which brings multi-genre talents onto a single stage. More acts will be revealed in the coming weeks.

In a Facebook post, Jepsen shared, “Vacation in Malaysia?! [party popper emoji] I can’t wait to meet my fans there. I am looking forward to being part of the party at MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015. It’s going to be pretty spectacular!” .

Jepsen’s highly anticipated new album, E·MO·TION will be released 21 August 2015 (U.K. and Europe release on 25 September 2015). Her second and latest single from the upcoming album, “Run Away With Me” was recently released on 17 July and has already passed over 2.5 million views on YouTube within two weeks of its release, while getting strong reviews from music critics around the world as the ‘Anthemic Summer Jam’.

MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015 is presented by Sunway and supported by Tourism Malaysia. In Malaysia, it is ignited by Xpax, brought to you by Brickfields Asia College, Watsons Malaysia, supported by local broadcast partner, Astro, with media partners Big Tree Outdoor, Cleo, EH!, Hype Malaysia, Selebriti Online, and TimeOut KL. Astro Vinmeen HD, the first 24-hour HD Tamil general entertainment channel in South East Asia, has been launched on Singtel TV in Singapore on 1^st July 2015.

The successful launch of Astro Vinmeen HD on Singtel TV is the result of a distribution partnership between Astro and Singtel TV. The event will feature a line-up with five acts to be announced in the coming weeks including two international acts, two regional acts and one #MostWantedMalaysia act who will all join the MTV stage. Malaysia’s #MostWanted Act for MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015

In another offering to turn the spotlight on fans, MTV is presenting an opportunity for up and coming Malaysian acts to showcase their talents as Malaysia’s #MostWanted Act at MTV World Stage Malaysia. Local artists or bands keen to participate can submit their interest via worldstage.mtvasia.com from 13 – 26 July. From 30 July – 14 August, fans can show their support by hashtagging their preferred local band or artist they want to see perform at MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015. Based on fans’ votes and other performance criteria, Malaysia’s #MostWanted Act will perform as the opening act at the show.

The free-entry*** show is recorded live for global telecast under the MTV World Stage global series, which bring multi-genre talents with global relevance, to an international audience of more than three-quarters of a billion households in over 160 countries. The global series showcases the most exclusive gigs, world renowned music festivals and unique concert locations from around the world, providing music lovers the ‘front row seat’ to experience the biggest artists on the globe without leaving the comfort of their sofas. Both Alex Goh and Epsilon Kueen are now one step closer to realising their dreams after they were chosen as Grand Prize winners at the 2015 K-Pop World Festival in Malaysia! Both victors will now represent Malaysia at the Grand Finals in Changwon City, Korea. Alex, who mesmerised the crowd with his solid vocals when he sang Johan Kim’s ‘I want to fall in love’, triumphed in the vocal category while Epsilon Kueen, who danced their hearts out to BTS’ ‘Danger’. ‘Concept Trailer’ and ‘Attack on Bangtan’ and VIXX’s ‘Voodoo Doll’, won for the performance category. The festival, which took place on 14 June, 2015 at Sunway Giza, is a joint collaboration by Astro, KBS World, and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia.

Besides both winners, the other top 10 finalists who battled it out at the festival included Fuxion Dance Crew, FXN, P.A.S, Double F, Variance, HIM, Villainess, Yiting Tan, Zetty Lee  and DuoFrio. Fuxion Dance Crew walked away with the KBS World category award while HIM came out tops in the VIXX category award.

Fans of six-member South Korean boyband, VIXX were delighted to see their favourite idol group at the 2015 K-POP World Festival in Malaysia. Known for their powerful performances, VIXX entertained their fans with their hit songs ‘On and on’, ‘Light up the darkness’ and ‘Error’ besides assuming the role of judges for the Malaysian preliminary round of the 2015 K-POP World Festival.

The 2015 K-Pop World Festival is an annual global K-Pop competition organized by South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is now into its 5^th year. Competition kicks-off with regional contests to be hosted by Korean embassies and cultural centers overseas. This year, the preliminary rounds will take place in 63 countries, including Malaysia. The winners of each national contest will then advance to the online qualifying round. After tallying the online votes plus the opinions from an expert panel of judges, about 15 teams will be selected to go to Korea for final round in Changwon.
